South East NSW - August 2026

This trip was to explore the South East corner of NSW and was broken into three stages.
Wonboyne - The group met at Wonboyne Caravan Park, which was a very nice location, although lots of work being done to improve the Park.  We stayed in Wonboyne for four nights, and each day a different outing was planned. The first day included lovely smooth dirt roads, lots of timber coupes but little of interest. Day two we visited Green Cape Lighthouse, Pulpit Rock, City Rock, Dittangabee Bay, and Boyd’s Tower. Day three trip was past Kiah on Snake Track, which was a very pretty, narrow road, then back to camp via Big Jack and Ben Boyd Roads. 

Dalmeny - Saturday was moving day.  We made our way separately from Wonboyne to Dalmeny where we stayed for three nights.  This caravan park excellent, with lovely views of the ocean.  A couple of us even saw a whale breach!  Our first day there we made our way to  Nerrigundah and the monument in memory of a siege with police.  From there we continued on our trip, back to camp via Wandella and Tinpot roads.  That night we enjoyed a very nice (huge) dinner at the Narooma Gold Club.  The following day a trip along Comerang Creek Road to see the Fire Tower, only to find when there that the gate locked!  Luckily Hanging Mountain was only a few kilometres away and an amazing view from the lookout. Visited Moruya Heads, Tuross Head and Potato Point on our way back to camp.

Burrill Lake, Ulladullah - Another moving day, and the Discovery Park  another excellent spot to spend three nights. The first day saw us travel via Wheelbarrow Road to Pigeon House Mountain, which none of us tackled as a very difficult track and over 4 hours return.  We soon went past The Castle (a volcanic plug), and lots of stops trying to get the best photo without too many trees to see through !  Lunch was at the picturesque Bimberamala River and back to camp via Mogood Lookout. Our final day was via Twelve Mile Road, and saw us stopping to see Boyd Lookout, Granite Falls, Jarrawangala Lookout and Tianjara Falls, returning via Twelve Mile road again.

This was a very interesting trip, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the tracks and places we visited.  We were very lucky with the weather. It was ideal for 4wding on bush tracks, and apart from some cold nights, most days were sunny and warm.
